Yesterday Zeke had a hearing test. He had to be sleep deprived and couldn't eat past midnight the night before. We went up to Primary Children's for the test because they had to do a conscious sedation. Poor little guy had to fast for like 12 hours. He was so hungry and tired. Since he was sleep deprived so well they were able to do every single hearing test possible. They did an ABR which is an Auditory Brain Response or something like that and an ASSR which both tests they have electrodes attached to his head to read his brain response to the noise they put in his ear. When he was about 3 months old they did an ABR and his brain was responding at 80 db, but yesterday he only responded to 120 db in only his right ear. He use to be Severe to Profound hearing loss but now he is completely Profound in both ears. I am pretty sad that he got worse, but now we know that our insurance will actually pay for 1 cochlear implant because he is Profound in both ears.

That's tough news, Alex. But like you said, at least the insurance will do at least the 1 cochlear implant now. And he's doing so well with the sign language!
Look at him walking though! He is such a cutie!

Walking?! I could tell he was close, but it's so exciting when it actually happens. Can't wait to see him do it. I'm sure it's hard to get those results back, but you guys are doing awesome with sign. He is precious and I love his outfit in the pics :)
I am sorry to hear that Zeke's hearing has gotten worse. I have often wondered what db Cal can hear at without his hearing aids. They would only go to 90db on our test, and he wasn't responding at that. It is always hard news to hear that the hearing loss is worse than you expected. Thank heaven for modern technology,so that our little guys have a chance to hear someday. I am glad Laura is working out for you. Zeke is darling!
Alex, I am so sorry about Zekes hearing loss. I am sorry for you as a mother. That is a tough emotional and physical battle.
we have boxes that I kept in case you asked. We have some really good ones in the basement.
I am leaving town Saturday at 3 to Cali...call me and come get the boxes. Can you come tomorrow morning? 801-915-6655
