September Already?

It has been a while since I have posted.  I can't believe it is already September. Zeke has been activated on his left ear for a month and I haven't updated on how it has been.  It was hard! Let me just say that the first implant was much easier for him to adjust to. On August 10 Zeke was activated and while at the Audiologist he did fine wearing it. Brandon and I were both very surprised he was doing so well especially because we went from the body worn processors to the Behind the Ear Processors. The audiologist said it was probably just the environment and he would hate it after we left. Boy was he correct. We got in the car and Zeke took it off and screamed if we tried to put it back on.  All the new noise made Zeke sleepy so on the way home he slept. I told him that if he would put his new implant on he could have some ice cream from McDonald's so he let us put it on. The second I handed him his ice cream he took it off so I took his ice cream away so he would know that he had to wear it. For about the next week we had to hold him down and try and put it on. It usually took about 40 minutes to get it on and by the time we got it on he was so exhausted from fighting us he fell asleep. It took a good 2-3 weeks before he would let us put it on without a big fight. Sometimes he still doesn't want it right when he wakes up so I wait an hour and then he will let me put it on. If he gets really tired he will usually take off the new one and just wear his older implant.

Zeke's speech is taking off. He is talking a lot more then he use to and I love it! I love when he talks especially when he is playing. It is still hard to understand things that he says but the words that he really knows he is saying them a lot more clear then he use to. He is copying almost everything I say and trying really hard to say things that he hears. He did see a motorcycle the other day and tried saying motorcycle and it sounded pretty good.

Zeke started a toddler therapy group that he goes to 2 times a week. He loves it! We get to play and sing songs and do art projects and have interesting snacks and play outside. Zeke has never really been into singing too much, he likes it but he would never tell me that he wanted to sing. Since going to the toddler group, almost everyday he wants to and starts doing the actions to the songs we sing. His favorite one is the train song and at the end you blow your train whistle and I always forget to, but Zeke always reminds me! It is so cute watching him sing and doing the actions. He is a very smart little guy.
I have lots of new pictures but don't have my cord so I can put them on to my computer. I will have to get it soon so I can post some recent pictures! Zeke has been loving getting his picture taken lately! He is good to stay very still and say cheese.
